Belize’s territory encompasses lush rainforest (some 45% of the country is still forested), extensive coastal estuaries and the longest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere. Hidden in the mountains are massive Mayan ruins - remnants of an ancient civilization whose pyramids are still among the tallest structures in the country today. Wildlife abounds both on land in the jungle and under water on the extensive marine reef system. Whether your chosen tools of observation are binoculars, cameras or scuba and snorkeling gear, you’ll never run out of fascinating adventures into Belize’s natural world.

Many of our guests at Manta and Blackbird resorts prefer to combine their stays at either outer reef resort with a few days exploration of the Belizean rainforest, basing out of a comfortable and charming jungle lodge. We offer two main types of packages, The Naturalist and The Adventurer. Both combine a half-week at Blackbird Resort with a jungle lodge deep in the rainforest.

The Naturalist is geared towards nature enthusiasts whose primariy interest is birding, wildlife watching and learning about the complexities of the rainforest. Choose the Adventurer if your interests lie more in exploring trails, caves, kayaking and ancient ruins.

While most clients are interested in the 7-night packages, you can also custom-build a longer safari, by staying a week at either Manta or Blackbird and another week in the interior.
